Programmet starter med lunsj onsdag 25.5.11, og avsluttes med lunsj fredag 27.5.11.
Deltageravgift: 2000 kr, som dekker seminardeltagelse, felles lunsj og middag onsdag og torsdag, samt lunsj fredag.
Reise og overnatting organiseres og betales av den enkelte deltaker.

The conference will start with lunch Wednesday, May 25th, and will finish with lunch Friday, May 27th.
Registration fee is NOK 2000,-. This includes seminar participation, joint lunch and dinner Wednesday and Thursday, as well as lunch on Friday.
Travel and accommodation must be organized and paid for by each participant.

Siste frist for innsendelse av abstract 1. mars 2011. Innlegg om alle temaer relatert til helse- og sykdomshistorie er velkomne. Abstractene bør ha en tittel, være på maksimum en side og inneholde kontaktinformasjon. Individuelle innlegg vil bli begrenset til 20 minutter, fulgt av 10 minutter diskusjon.
Påmelding til phd-kurs med Ludmilla Jordanova innen 1. mars 2011. Kurset avholdes om formiddagen onsdag 25. mai. Påmeldingen sendes til medisin(a)tekniskmuseum.no innen 1. mars og bør inneholde en sides beskrivelse av phd-prosjektet.

Deadline for proposals: March 1st, 2011. Submissions relating to all subjects pertaining to the history of medicine and health are welcome. Abstracts should not exceed one page, and should contain a title and contact information (name, affiliation, address and email). Please submit all proposals for papers and sessions to medisin(a)tekniskmuseum.no no later than 1. March 2011.
Applications to Jordanova’s phd-course: before March 1st, 2011. A separate application is necessary for professor Jordanova’s phd-course on the 25th of May, containing a short description of the PhD candidate’s thesis (maximum one page). Please submit the application to medisin(a)tekniskmuseum.no no later than 1. March 2011.

John Pickstone har grunnlagt Senter for vitenskapshistorie, teknologi og medisin ved Universitetet i Manchester, der han nå er Wellcome Research Professor. Han har arbeidet med moderne medisinsk historie, spesielt innenfor temaene kreft, mental helse og engelske helsetjenester.
Boken Ways of Knowing: A New History of Science, Technology and Medicine (2000) har allerede blitt en klassiker innenfor vitenskapshistorien. Den er en original historisk studie der han legger vekt på praksisene innenfor ulike vitenskapsformer, et historiografisk prosjekt han nå utvider mot massemedier.
Han har også skrevet Madness, Medicine and Social History Essays in Honour of Roy Porter ( Palgrave 2007), Surgeons, Manufacturers and Patient. A Transatlantic History of the Total Hip Replacement (med J. Anderson and F. Neary, Palgrave 2007) og The modern biological and earth sciences (vol. 6 i The Cambridge History of Science, med Peter Bowler, 2009)

John Pickstone founded the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Manchester, where he is now Wellcome Research Professor. He has published widely on modern medical history, including the history of cancer, mental health and recent English Health Services.
His book Ways of Knowing: A New History of Science, Technology and Medicine (Manchester and Chicago, 2000, and article in Isis, 2007) is an original attempt to cover the history of science, technology and medicine, emphasising different forms of practices – a historiographical project he is extending towards communicative arts.
Among his other recent publications are Madness, Medicine and Social History Essays in Honour of Roy PorterSurgeons, Manufacturers and Patient. A Transatlantic History of the Total Hip Replacement (with J. Anderson and F. Neary, Palgrave, 2007) and The Modern Biological and Earth Sciences (vol 6 of The Cambridge History of Science, ed with Peter Bowler, 2009). (Palgrave, 2007),

Ludmilla Jordanova er professor i moderne historie ved King’s College i London. Hun har publisert en rekke kulturhistoriske studier av medisin og vitenskap, av kjønn og familie og også av visuell og materiell kultur.
Innenfor medisinsk historie er hun ikke minst kjent for Sexual Visions: Images of Gender in Science and Medicine between the Eighteenth and Twentieth Centuries (University of Wisconsin Press, 1989), Nature Displayed: Gender, Science and Medicine 1760-1820 (Longman, 1999) og Defining Features: Scientific and Medical Portraits 1660-2000 (Reaktion Books, 2000). Hun har også skrevet den mye brukte History in Practice (Arnold, 2000).

Nick Hopwood is Senior Lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge, where he runs a Wellcome Trust-funded programme that is reassessing the history of reproduction from antiquity to the present day.
He is the author of Embryos in Wax (Whipple Museum, 2002), co-editor (with Soraya de Chadarevian) of Models: The Third Dimension of Science (Stanford, 2004), co-author with Tatjana Buklijas of the online exhibition Making Visible Embryos (2008) and co-editor with Simon Schaffer and Jim Secord, of Seriality and Scientific Objects in the Nineteenth Century (a special double issue of History of Science, 2010).
He is currently finishing a book, Pictures of Evolution and Charges of Forgery, about the most controversial images in the history of science and why they became some of the most standard.
