Mette Sannes, bioengineer at OUS

Tuesday, March 17:

"The most common test we do is called deep nose. It doesn't cause much pain, just a little discomfort when we're deep enough.".

I always ask the patient first if they have taken a deep nose before and then point to the back of the head that I am going all the way back here. Head tilted back, my hand on the forehead and then stick straight into the nose. When you see tears almost coming or a sneeze, you are far enough in. Quickly done, uncomfortable, but not painful and then done.

No complaints today as over 330 were tested.

Eventually there will be a shortage of nasal swabs and we will have to switch to proper throat swabs, which I think is more bothersome. The "toothbrush down your throat" feeling.

"I show everyone new to the testing clinic how to take a deep nose, on myself, I will never be a test subject for proper throat tests."
