Astrid Torunn Pedersen tells about her stay at Stavern Coastal Hospital in 1948-50, where she spent most of her time in bed, in a plaster cast.
She also reflects on how she has now, in retrospect, gained a different perception of the infection and the reasons why she became ill.
Stavern coastal hospital
Stavern Coastal Hospital opened in 1892 as a special hospital for children with glandular tuberculosis (scrofulosis). It was built with private funds and had 52 beds. A few years later it was expanded with a new side wing, giving it about 100 beds.
