The caravel and the mekkers
The Caravelle is SAS's first jet aircraft from 1959 – and the largest museum piece at The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology ! “How on earth did it end up in the museum?” is the question we get most often. The answer is simple, so it's more fun to hear more about this legendary aircraft when it was in active service in the 1960s and 70s.
Stories from both the flight of it and no less important: from the ground - the maintenance and keeping it going - that is the topic of today's lecture. We will also hear a bit about the move to the museum, and there will be an opportunity to take a trip inside the plane!
Hans Arnegard was an aircraft mechanic at the SAS workshop in Koksa, Fornebu, from 1965 to 1973 before he took pilot training and became a pilot and gained flight time which, among other things, captain in several companies. He has, among other things, worked with Caravelle.
