Meeting with memories

about work and leisure

Meeting with memories is a visiting service for people with dementia. Through customized tours, we invite you to dialogue and socialize at the museum.

We have extensive experience in welcoming groups from day care centers and nursing homes, and the museum is well adapted for the use of walkers and wheelchairs. Chairs will also be set up where we will be in the exhibitions. The tour is dialogic and person-centred where the participants get to control which objects we concentrate on. The last part of the event is a pleasant coffee time where we serve coffee and biscuits while we look at pictures and familiar things from working life.

On Mondays, the museum is closed to other visitors, so we can create a calm atmosphere for the participants. But it also means that there will be no opportunity to walk around on your own, before or after the tour. The museum cafe is also closed, but feel free to bring a packed lunch.

Our offers

A working life

A commemorative dialogue about professions and workplaces. With the help of selected objects in the museum's exhibitions, we delve into work in industry, transport, domestic work, handicrafts and offices, with particular emphasis on the period between the 1950s and 1980s. During this period, Oslo went from being a small port city to becoming a multicultural capital.

Good weekend

A tour about leisure, travel, sport and music from the 50s to the present day. The tour ends with a coffee break. Singing, poetry reading, photographs, sound recordings and touching objects strengthen the dialogue between the museum and the participants.

Norway's National Museum of Technology, Industry, Natural Sciences and Medicine. Here you will find exciting exhibitions and activities a short distance from central Oslo.
