The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology aims to be inclusive and accessible to all. We are continuously working on universal design and tailored offerings so that more people can enjoy our exhibitions and activities .
The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology is located along the Akerselva River in Kjelsås and is easily accessible by bus, train, tram, car and on foot. Several tram routes take you to Kjelsåsalléen, a 10-minute walk from the museum. Please note that the older trams that run here are not wheelchair accessible due to the stairs.
There is step-free access to the museum's entrance doors from the car park in front of the museum. The doors have automatic openers.
The museum has free parking for visitors with five charging stations for electric cars. In addition, there are 4 municipal charging stations for electric cars in the parking area by the museum.
Two HC parking spaces can be found close to the main entrance. You must have a valid HC certificate to use the handicap parking.
Tickets can be bought online, at reception or at the ticket machine at the main entrance. The reception has both a high and a low counter.
Companions with an accompanying certificate and an interpreter have free entry. These tickets are collected from the reception on arrival. For tours or events, the number of companions and interpreters must be stated when booking. Companions can sit with those they accompany during events, tours and activities.
Guide dogs are welcome at the museum.
All emergency exits are visually well marked. Exits from levels 1, 2 and 3 lead directly onto the terrain and terraces. There are evacuation chairs by the main staircase on level 4 and on the stage in the Auditorium.
In the event of an evacuation alarm, the museum's staff will search the entire building for visitors and show the way to the nearest exit.
Join a museum visit!
What happens when you get to the museum? Who are you meeting? With the activity map and sensory map, you are well prepared for the museum visit.
In the science center downstairs, we have many different installations where you can run a race, and explore blood circulation or electricity. You can also take part in a drawing competition with artificial intelligence, play old computer games or call from a red telephone kiosk in the computer exhibition I/O.
At the reception you will find a cafe where you can bring a packed lunch or buy something good to eat. The museum also has a museum shop with a large selection of toys for both children and adults.
