Offshore wind power

— past, present and future

Offshore wind turbines are one of the major areas of focus in energy and climate policy.

The government has ambitions to allocate sea areas for wind power production of 30,000 MW by 2040. What experiences have we gained with offshore wind so far, and what advantages and challenges do those who want to develop wind power in Norwegian waters face? How can experiences from the North Sea help in the green shift, and what new technologies need to be put in place?

Civil engineer Simen Moxnes has been with Hydro / Statoil / Equinor since 1998 in several positions and departments and various projects, including the pioneering project Hywind. He is currently working on new energy systems at Equinor.
