Solar eclipse

You are invited to a rare experience when a solar eclipse hits Norway!

On Saturday morning, March 29, 2025, the Moon will pass between the Earth and the Sun, creating a partial solar eclipse across all of Norway. The Moon will cover up to 40 percent of the solar disk as seen from the mainland and well over 50 percent in Svalbard. The only caveat is the weather.

Solar eclipses can also be observed through thin clouds, but regardless of whether it is blue sky or partly cloudy weather, you must remember to protect your eyes when looking at the Sun!

The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology will provide solar eclipse glasses for loan and a telescope to observe the experience.
