See how technology together with human expertise makes it possible to get an insight into a fantastic world that was previously invisible!

Explore images and film taken using modern technology such as light microscopy, electron beams and X-rays.

In the Science Center you can also try out how the body's internal organs, the skeleton, the senses and the brain work! Among other things, you can see your own pulse and find out how you can easily fool your sense of temperature.

In order to increase the understanding of central diseases and contribute to achieving better forms of treatment, it is crucial to image the disease cells using advanced microscopy techniques. In Bergen, a preclinical study on malignant brain cancer is underway, where treatment effects are studied using confocal microscopy and magnetic resonance tomography (MR).

Amazing facts about the heart

  • During a normal lifetime, 275,000 cubic meters of blood pass through the heart
  • Each heartbeat performs the same amount of work as is required to lift 1 dl of blood 1.2 meters into the air.
  • The heart beats 100,000 times in a day. There will be more than 2,700,000,000 heartbeats during a normal life - without external maintenance!
