Sensory tools

Information, sensory maps and other sensory aids you can use to prepare for your visit to The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology .

  • Before the visit

The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology has several exhibition rooms and a science center spread over four floors.

PDF Social History ( 8.76 MB ) gives you information about arrival and what you can experience during your visit.

PDF Mitt Museum Visit ( 3.46 MB ) is a visual checklist with picture cards that can be used to plan the visit together.

  • Sound and noise

Are you sensitive to sound and noise? If you want to borrow hearing protection or earplugs, please contact an employee at reception.

Some days and times are quieter at the museum. Weekdays during the school year are usually quiet after 14. Fridays are the quietest days. At weekends it is less busy after 15. Otherwise, hot summer days are very quiet and peaceful days.

Some areas can be busy and loud, especially the science center and the entrance area. To find places that are quieter, see our sensory map:

  • Temperature variations

If it's cold outside, it can be quite chilly in the museum. Then it might be a good idea to bring a sweater. If it's hot outside, it will be hot inside. It may therefore be a good idea to dress based on the weather outside.
