The museum hunt: MILK CARTONS IN HALVORSEN'S WORKSHOP

You are now looking into Halvorsen's workshop. The workshop is a well-preserved time capsule; a unique example of a private fine mechanical workshop. The workshop was in operation from 1900? until the 1950s.

The museum's association of friends moved the entire workshop to the museum in 2009. At that time, it had been standing almost untouched in a basement in Hasle since 1952.

Hans Halvorsen repaired and manufactured tools and machine parts. He also repaired bicycles, made shower heads and parts for gramophones. The workshop initially consisted of two lathes, grinders, hand tools, a milling machine, a homemade drilling machine, a door press and a cold saw.

Halvorsen wrote in his diary about long working days. Ten hours was not uncommon, and he often worked on Sundays. Food purchases were also accurately recorded, and the menu consisted largely of herring, Kneipp bread, key cheese and coffee.

Halvorsen was a man of order, everything had to have its place. He reused milk cartons, bottles, metal cans and matchboxes to store things.

If you look closely, you will be able to find several containers that originally contained food and drink.
