Solar eclipse

You are invited to a rare experience when a solar eclipse hits Norway!

On Saturday morning, March 29, 2025, the moon slides in between the earth and the sun, creating a partial solar eclipse throughout Norway. The moon will cover up to 40 percent of the sun disc from the mainland and well over 50 percent on Svalbard. The only reservation is the weather.

Solar eclipses can also be observed through thin clouds, but whether it is blue sky or slightly cloudy weather, remember to protect your eyes when looking from the sun!

The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology provides solar eclipse glasses for lending and telescope to observe the experience.
