Life and death

Treatment

Many diseases that used to mean certain death can now be treated. Antibiotics, for example, led to a breakthrough in the 1940s to save the lives of patients with infections.

Different treatments can also lead to injuries. Even if you recover from the original disease, you may struggle with health problems from the treatment.

Some treatments are also so expensive that not everyone can get them.

How do we decide who should get what treatments? And what is the meaning of terms like overtreatment, or mistreatment?
