Privacy related to exhibitions and collections

Personal information stored
in the collections and related documentation stores NTM the following personal information:

  • People with relation to museum objects, such as donors, former owners, users, manufacturers or others related to the object's history.
  • The museum's historical archives include personal data related to the relevant business, including overviews of employees, employers and input and outgoing correspondence.
  • The museum's photo archives include photographs of named persons taken in both public and private contexts.
  • The museum's medical collections include personal information related to patients and health professionals in the health care system.

Purpose of the treatment
The museum collects and stores the information for museum and archive purposes in the public interest.

The basis for the processing
the information is filed to document historical development in line with the museum's purpose. The processing of personal data is in accordance with Article 6 (1) (E) and Article 9 (2) (J) (J), which allows the processing of personal data for archival purposes in the public or historical research purpose.

Obtaining personal data
The museum collects personal information when consuming museum objects or archives for the collections and in the ongoing management of the museum's existing collection. The information is obtained from various private and public bodies.

Delivery of information to third parties
Personal information related to the museum's collections is disclosed in accordance with the Archives Act and other current legislation. The museum follows established routines for assessing access to personal data in the archives and collections, and access provided only in accordance with statutory conditions.

Storage and deletion of personal data
Information that is part of the museum's collections, archives and historical documentation is stored in accordance with archival and museum science principles and can be preserved indefinitely for research and documentation purposes.

If you have submitted personal information in connection with a registration or submission to the museum and do not want them to be stored, you can contact for an assessment of deletion in accordance with current regulations.

Rights for the registered
we process your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Act and current regulations.

You are entitled to:

  • Access to what personal information we have recorded about you.
  • Correcting incorrect or incomplete information.
  • Deletion of information, if this does not conflict with archival and museum professional conservation considerations.
  • To complain to the Data Inspectorate if you believe our treatment is in violation of current regulations.

Information security
We ensure personal information by both physical and virtual access and access control of our data, as well as by encryption of sensitive information. Data processing agreements have been entered into with our suppliers of the museum's catalog systems to ensure that the information is handled properly.
