Energy issues are among our most important technological history topics. They are also constantly relevant in news and debate, business development and private finances, from conversations around tables to the largest social arenas. Electricity supply is particularly central to the necessary transition away from fossil energy sources.
The lecture "Electricity, a scarce resource? NVE between electricity crisis and power surplus" puts today's energy debate into a historical perspective and examines how we have gone from periods of power surplus to situations where access to electricity is perceived as scarce.
Are we in an electricity crisis? If so, how can it be solved? Will we return to earlier times of power surpluses? Or will we have to get used to a new price level and adjust consumption accordingly, both in households and in business? These are some of the questions we will take with us to the meeting with the CEO of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate – NVE this Thursday.
Speaker Kjetil Lund is a social economist with a background in the civil service and as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, and as a city councilor in Oslo. Since 2019, he has been Director of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).
