Fred Wallace Haise Jr. was the lunar module pilot on NASA's ill-fated Apollo 13 mission in 1970. An explosion in an oxygen tank interrupted the planned lunar landing, requiring Haise and crew members Lovell and Swigert to use the lunar module Aquarius as a lifeboat to survive the perilous journey back to Earth.
Speaker Fred Haise was a fighter pilot, flight engineer, NASA test pilot, NASA astronaut, backup lunar landing pilot for Apollo 8 and 11, lunar landing pilot on Apollo 13, backup commander for Apollo 16, technical assistant for the design and development of the space shuttle Enterprise, the first person to fly Enterprise as commander, and a Grumman Corporation executive responsible for space shuttle operations and early planning for the Freedom space station (the predecessor to the International Space Station).
The event is held via Zoom by organizer STEAM4SPACE and requires an entrance ticket to the museum.
