Wheelchair users and people with limited mobility

The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology has exhibitions and service areas on four levels connected by an elevator.

  • Free parking

Two HC parking spaces can be found close to the main entrance. You must have a valid HC certificate to use the handicap parking.
  • Entrance and reception

There is step-free access to the museum's entrance doors from the car park in front of the museum. The doors have automatic openers.

  • Exhibitions and activity rooms

There are no thresholds to the exhibitions and activity rooms. There are chairs, benches or sofas available on all floors of the museum, but not in all exhibitions. A stand with light stools, which can be taken around the museum, can be found in two places on level 2, opposite the main staircase and at the entrance to the Medical Museum.

  • Conference department and auditorium

A staircase and a lift by the café lead to the conference department on the 1st floor, where there is step-free access to the auditorium and the two meeting rooms. The entrance to the auditorium is at the back of the hall. A wide staircase or a stairlift leads down to the stage. There is seating for wheelchair users at stage level and behind the back row of chairs. It is possible to park wheelchairs in front or at the back, and use the nearest seat.

  • HC toilets

There are HC toilets at the changing rooms behind the shop and reception, in the Science Center on level 1 and at the entrance to the Medical Museum on level 2. There is a HC toilet in the conference department with limited access, because the door pump is missing.

  • Emergency exits and safety

All emergency exits are visually well marked. Exits from levels 1, 2 and 3 lead directly onto the terrain and terraces. There are evacuation chairs by the main staircase on level 4 and on the stage in the Auditorium. In the event of an evacuation alarm, the museum's staff will search the entire building for visitors and show the way to the nearest exit.
