Conservator's workshop

CLIMATE2+

In a functional workshop, the object conservators will handle objects on their way into the major exhibitions, which are in production, Medicine and ICT .

We will make it clear that the climate exhibition is located in a museum and convey the special discussions it entails. Through the conservator's workshop, visitors will be able to see how objects are treated in a museum and again see different ways in which the objects relate to the climate perspective.

What has made the path from the wardrobe to the trash can so much too short?

The conservation workshop is not only intended as a look at the preservation of museum objects, but also as a basic reminder to take care of things, use them for a long time, repair them and buy less.

In order for the conservators' work to be feasible, the workshop will have limited opening hours. During closed periods, the outside will be activated in other ways, with film, photography and activities – for example, where visitors can tell stories about their own objects. What do we want to preserve? Conservation is largely about telling stories.

There is a climate perspective in all themes at the museum. We face the challenges every day. If we only put themes such as climate, gender, diversity in special exhibitions, we hide them.

We will try to open up the questions, and show that they apply to museum routines in general.
