Soli Statera
By Julie Henning
Soli Statera means soil balance, and this project has sprung from the artist's own commitment to take better care of the resources we have, and in particular how industrialized agriculture manages the soil in a non-renewable way.
The photo book raises questions about what we can all do to make a difference in the climate fight, whether it is growing food for our own consumption or using our consumer power to choose sustainable alternatives.
Soli Statera shows, among other things, photographs from Losæther farm, which show what is possible through cooperation, when everyone who wants to can contribute to growing organic food.
Photos from Aschim Vestre gård, which among other things manage primeval grain, are also shown. For Henning, the original grain becomes a symbol of the desire for a more holistic way of thinking towards biodynamic and sustainable food production.
The photographs focus on a cycle between people, bacteria, insects and plants that use the soil in an optimal way. With this work, Henning wants to show an alternative food production model that takes better care of the earth's resources in circular agriculture.
