LIFE AND DEATH

The main body of a museum is the objects, each of which tells its own story with the help of the records about them. Unlike digital screens, we can see things as they were when they were used in reality.

In connection with the exhibition, Life and Death, we are working on various collecting projects. At this link you can read about the corona vaccine.

During the corona pandemic, we collected stories from healthcare personnel and objects, such as the vial from the first vaccine in the district of Nordre Aker.

"THE CORONA DRESS"

In 2023, the Medical Museum acquired a textile work of art called "Til tjeneste" created by artist Marit Røed during the pandemic. Røed makes costumes from non-traditional materials, such as packaging and (here) masks. The idea behind the artwork was to draw attention to, as Røed said, "all those who bravely stood on the front line in meeting the patients". The dress is displayed on the coronavirus wall in the Life and Death exhibition.
